You will be expressing your opinion on a topic of your choice in a letter to the editor of the Denver Post.

To begin:

  • Locate an article in the Denver Post (either hard copy or online) in which you are interested. Do you have a strong opinion about the topic of the article? If not, please choose a different article.

  • Complete the graphic organizer below to help you organize your thoughts and ideas.



Now it's time to write your letter!
Creat a new document on Google, and name it: #, name, Editor, Blue (or Green)
Your letter must:
  • Mention the name of the article in the first sentence
  • Define the issue
  • Include your opinion on the issue
  • Include an example, illustration, or personal connection to support your opinion.
  • Include a call to action. What do you want readers to do?


With your rough draft, please include a copy of the article to which you are responding.
